Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They are widely used to make websites work, improve user experience, and provide information to site owners.
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies MyCareerShift uses, why we use them, and your choices regarding their use.
2. Cookies We Use
MyCareerShift uses a minimal approach to cookies and client-side storage. We do not use any advertising, marketing, or third-party tracking cookies.
| Name / Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| localStorage: intake form draft | Saves your intake form progress so you do not lose your work if you close the browser or navigate away. Cleared on successful submission. | Until form submission | Strictly necessary |
| Funnel access cookie (mcs_funnel) | Proves to our server that this browser created the intake it is viewing, so a link on its own cannot open your preview or reports. Holds only signed intake references; readable by our server, not by scripts. | 30 days | Strictly necessary |
| Sign-in session cookies (Supabase) | Keep you signed in to your account after you use a sign-in link. Set only once you sign in. | Until you sign out or the session expires | Strictly necessary |
| Stripe checkout cookies | Set by Stripe on their domain (checkout.stripe.com) during payment processing. Used for fraud prevention and payment security. We have no control over these cookies. | Varies (set by Stripe) | Strictly necessary |
3. What We Do Not Use
MyCareerShift does not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Third-party tracking cookies
- Social media tracking pixels
- Fingerprinting or cross-site tracking technologies
For product analytics we use PostHog in a deliberately cookieless configuration: it sets no cookies and stores no persistent identifiers on your device, so your browser cannot be recognised across visits. It records usage events (such as which pages are viewed and which buttons are clicked) to help us improve the product. When you are signed in, purchases and report generations are recorded on our servers under a pseudonymous account hash — not a device identifier and not your name or email — as described in our Privacy Policy. Because no non-essential cookies or persistent identifiers are involved, no consent banner is required; if that configuration ever changes, we will update this policy and request consent first, in compliance with GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive.
4. Local Storage
Apart from the strictly necessary cookies listed above, we use your browser's localStorage (not cookies) to save your intake form progress. localStorage is similar to cookies but is not sent to our servers with every request — it stays entirely on your device.
This data is used only to prevent you from losing your form progress. It is automatically deleted when you successfully submit the form. You can also clear it manually through your browser settings at any time.
5. Your Choices
Since we only use strictly necessary storage (intake form draft, the funnel access cookie, sign-in session cookies and Stripe payment security), no cookie consent banner is required under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent requirements.
You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View and delete stored data
- Block all cookies (this prevents the preview and report pages from opening and may affect Stripe checkout)
- Block third-party cookies only
- Clear localStorage for specific sites
Disabling localStorage will not prevent you from using MyCareerShift, but you may lose unsaved form progress if you navigate away from the intake form.
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce non-essential cookies or analytics tools in the future, we will update this policy and implement a cookie consent mechanism before any such cookies are set.
Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
7. Contact
